FloaTEC is a U.S.-based 50:50 joint venture company between McDermott and Keppel FELS. The company was established in September 2005 and is conveniently located in the energy corridor in West Houston.
FloaTEC consists of a management team and a core team of experienced engineers who have executed major projects from concept to installation. He was appointed President effective March 1, 2014. In this role, he is focused on setting the company strategy, developing and growing the company and meeting shareholder commitments. TK joined FloaTEC in 2006 as Director – Commercial & Contracts and has been involved in developing the company and growing the business. Since 2009, he has been a member of the leadership team on the Papa Terra P-61 Tension Leg Wellhead Platform project. TK received an undergraduate degree in chemical engineering in 1987 and an MBA in 1996.
Vice President – EPC Pursuits & Capture
More than thirty-five (35) years of construction and project management experience working with multinational work force at domestic and international locations in the offshore construction and installation industry. Experience includes twenty (20) years as Sr. Project Director/ Project Manager / Project Controls Manager managing lump-sum turnkey EPCI contracts. His most recent project role was EPCI JV Deputy Project Director of the Papa Terra P-61 TLWP project from commencement to completion.
Director – Technology Development
He joined the company in 2008 and is responsible for managing the company’s technology and intellectual property. His career spans more than 20 years serving in various project engineering functions and involved in all aspects of floating system design. He is a graduate of the University of Technology in Vienna, Austria, and holds a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering.
Director – Business Development
He started his oil & gas career in 1979 designing and fabricating jackup rigs. He went on to work for a major drilling contractor as a structural designer and the site engineer for three New Era semisubmersibles – Eagle, Hunter, and Falcon. His resume includes ten TLP projects and he served as a site engineer during the hull fabrication of four of those TLP projects. As the Product Development Manager at ABB, he managed the engineering team for the development of the ETLP concept. After successfully taking it from concept to market, he advanced to business development. At FloaTEC, his most recent project leadership roles include Assistant Project Manager for the Big Foot ETLP and Interface Manager for the Papa Terra P-61 TLWP.
Director – Project Management & Execution
He is a registered Professional Engineer with thirty-five years of diversified experience in project management and engineering of offshore floating production and drilling systems. Over twenty-two years of experience in management for projects ranging from concept development through detailed design, fabrication support, and installation support. His experience with deep water floating production and drilling projects begin in 1987. He held the position of Manager of Deepwater Marine and Riser Engineering for 11 years. Major areas of expertise are in project planning and execution, interface management, resource management and commercial management.
Manager – Engineering
Fourteen (14) years of highly technical and diversified experience in various aspects of naval architecture and marine structures in both the offshore engineering environment and the classification societies. He has expertise and broad knowledge of deepwater concept selection, floater design and model testing. He has experience in managing offshore floater concept studies, FEED, detail engineering, and technical support for the in-field production and operation. He managed BHP Shenzi TLP design CVA for SCR and global motions. He designed the ETLP for world-class projects such as Papa Terra P-61 TLWP and the Big Foot ETLP. He is currently the Project Manager for follow-on engineering for the Big Foot ETLP.
Senior Project Director
Over 35 years of experience in managing the design, procurement, fabrication, and installation of fixed and floating offshore structures, mainly in deepwater areas worldwide. Expertise in performing cost studies, capital cost development and execution planning for EPCI projects for spars, TLPs & semisubmersible platforms. Malcolm managed BP Holstein Spar hull and mooring EPC project, various deepwater platform designs and installation, subsea template designs and installation methods, mooring system design and installation, field development studies, and front-end engineering and design (FEED) studies for major projects for over three decades. He was the Project Manager for the FEED and detailed design of the Big Foot ETLP.
Manager – Financial & Business Services
More than 25 years experience in Cost, Financial Services and Financial Accounting in the oil and gas, engineering and marine construction industries. She is accountable for the preparation and reporting of financial statements, treasury and tax administration, estimating, human resources, purchasing, information technology, etc within the organization.
HR & Training & Administration Manager
More than 30 years of experience in the oil & gas Industry. She specializes in office and executive administration and human resources. She has served progressively in various capacities with Oil & Gas Contractors and Operators including FloaTEC, Aker Kvaerner, Ensearch Exploration, etc.
